After a largely peaceful election, the people of Ekiti are set to find out who their next governor will be.

Following hours of result collation, the Ekiti state Resident Electoral Commissioner, Abdulganiyu Raji kicked off result announcement proceedings with a welcome address at about 2:34am.

He stated that results from 14 local governments were ready, adding that results from the remaining two will be made available in a few hours.

Adams Akeulola, the Returning Officer for Ilejemeje local government kicked off the result announcements with APC polling 4153 votes and PDP polling 3937 votes.

Irepodu/Ifelodu local government came next with APC polling 13,869 votes and PDP polling 11,456 votes.

From results collated so far, APC appears to be in a clear lead as they've so far won in 10 of the 16 local governments, while PDP has managed to win only 3 including Ikere, the local government of the PDP candidate, Prof Kolapo Olusola.
