The same way the resignation of Zinedine Zidane as Real Madrid coach shocked many, the La Liga giants have thrown up another surprise as they have named Julen Lopetegui as the replacement for the French gaffer.

The club in a statement on Tuesday said: " Julen Lopetegui will be the Real Madrid coach after the celebration of the 2018 World Cup.

 "Real Madrid C. F. announce that Julen Lopetegui will be the coach of the first team during the next three seasons.
"Julen Lopetegui will join the club after Spain’s participation in the World Cup, after two years leading the national team."

The newly appointed coach is presently in charge of the Spanish team at the World Cup in Russia
