The Commissioner of Police in Lagos State, Imohimi Edgal, is going nowhere and that is the latest in the chronicles of events that have happened in the Nigeria Police Force between Monday and Tuesday.

A change of guard between Mr Edgal and Kayode Egbetokun, who was announced as new Commissioner, was scheduled to hold on Tuesday, but reporters were treated to a surprise.

The Commissioner of Police told reporters that there was an order from Abuja, requesting a stay of action on the transfer.

The Punch said Edgal hailed journalist who were present for the event which did not hold.

“I am sure that you know Mr Kayode Egbetokun, he is an old timer in the command.

“You all know that our first job is about order and direction.

"We were about concluding the handing and taking over procedure when we were instructed by our bosses from Abuja to suspend action for now.

"So, there will be no change of guard for now.

"Of course, we would keep the press briefed about any development.

“But I am happy and humbled that you found it serious enough for you all to come to witness what we are doing here.

"I consider it an honour,” PUNCH quoted the Police Commissioner as saying.

Mr Egbetokun was a former CSO to Bola Tinubu.
