There has been a road accident involving a Keke Marwa (commercial tricycle), a van and a saloon car on a major road in Iyana Ipaja area, Lagos state.

At least 7 people were injured in the accident that occurred the Ipaja-Ayobo road.

Eyewitnesses say the driver of a van appeared to have been engrossed in a phone conversation when she lost control before running into the Keke and the vehicle.

State authorities including the Lagos Traffic Management Unit and some police officers are at the scene to restore order and clear off the gridlock.

Bounce News correspondent at the scene, Tony Smart, reports that those injured have been taken to hospital.

There was an attempt by other Keke riders to prevent the female driver of the van from being taken away with the others who sustained injuries.

They claim the accident was caused by her negligence and refusal to adhere to traffic regulations.

A resident in the area told Bounce News that this is third time in one month that such accident will be recorded on that road.
