Nigerian government has declared Friday, December 1, 2017 as public holiday to celebrate Eid-El-Maulud.

In a statement on Wednesday, Minister of Interior, Abdulrahman Dambazau called on all Muslim faithful and Nigerians in general to use the occasion to pray for peace, progress and unity of the nation.

While wishing Nigerians a happy Eid-El-Maulud celebration, Dambazau urged them to pray for President Muhammadu Buhari’s administration in its efforts at building a virile nation.

Eid-El-Maulud is celebrated every year by Muslims on the 12th day of the Islamic month of Rabi-ul-Awwal as the birthday of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH).
