There are indications that only three candidate may be left to contest the Presidential position in Thursday’s NFF elective congress in Katsina.

The past NFF elective congresses have enjoyed their fair shares of drama and similar scenario is being played out less than 24 hours to the 2018 polls.

The electoral committee has issued a release that there are discrepancies in the certificates submitted by one of the presidential candidates, Alhaji Aminu Maigari who was at the helms from 2010 to 2014.

According to the press statement signed by the chairman of the NFF Election 2018 Committee, Mohammed Sani Katu,  there are petitions against the candidate by Chuma Onye and Ahmed Shuaibu Gara Gombe.

The said petitions were dated September 14 and September 17 respectively.

The committee declared that during its screening exercise, discrepancies were discovered by the five-man panel who could not reach an agreement on whether to disqualify the candidate.

It therefore resorted to voting which was 3-2 in favour of the candidates. That led to a definitive clearance.

But owing to the two petitions and a reported none response to produce again the originals of the certificates in question as at Tuesday, the committee opted to downgrade its earlier clearance to provisional clearance.

It is yet to be seen of Maigari will get the needed clearance to avail him the opportunity of slugging it out with Amaju Pinnick and others eyeing the top position at the NFF.
