The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has announced the demise of Ekiti State FA chairman, Ayodeji Desmond Alabi.

“We are sad to announce the sudden demise of Mr. Ayodeji Desmond Alabi who until his death was chairman, Ekiti State Football Association.  Our deepest condolences to his family, Ekiti State FA and the Football fraternity in Nigeria. May his soul rest in peace.” NFF wrote on twitter on Friday.

Circumstances surrounding his death is yet to be ascertained at the time of this report.

Alabi became the Ekiti State FA chairman in February 2015 when he polled 16 votes in an election to defeat the former Chairman, Dr. Isaac Ayodele, who had three votes.

Fresh election is expected to hold from January 30 to February 10, 2019, following the expiration of a four-year tenure.
