Finally, President Muhammadu Buhari is meeting with Minister of State for Petroleum, Ibe Kachikwu.

The meeting with Buhari is coming three days after a memo from the minister to the president leaked.

In the memo, dated August 30, Kachikwu accused the Group Managing Director of the state oil firm, the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC), Maikanti Baru, of insubordination and violation of due process.

Kachikwu had written the letter after being unable to secure an appointment to see the President despite very many attempts.

The President according to sources will have a fact-finding session with Kachikwu on some of the claims in his August 30 memo.

Kachikwu during the meeting will have the opportunity to explain what went wrong in the NNPC and the insubordination of the GMD.

It was gathered that the President and cabinet members were shocked over the memo.

Buhari was said not to be happy with the accusation of lack of access to him and the sidelining of Kachikwu.
