President Muhammadu Buhari on Wednesday presided over the weekly Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting at the Council Chambers inside the Presidential Villa, in Abuja.

This is the third FEC meeting in 2018.

The meeting came a day after former President Olusegun Obssanjo fired a salvo and launched a scathing paper attack against the President Buhari-led Federal Government in a 18-page statement he issued in Abeokuta on Tuesday.

To discredit Obasanjo's statement, some cabinet members wore campaign fez caps with the inscription, “Continuity ’19: Muhammadu Buhari/Osinbajo”.

The South West Campaign Coordinator and Minister of Communications, Adebayo Shittu, who reportedly was behind the production of the caps handed them over in a ‘Ghana-must-go” bag to the officers of the Cabinet Office at the Council Chamber to distribute to the ministers in attendance.

The President arrived at the Council Chambers at about 11 am for the meeting.

Vice President Yemin Osinbajo is conspicuously absent. He is currently in Davos for the World Economic Forum.

Osinbajo left for Davos from Monrovia, Liberia where he had represented Nigeria at the inauguration of the new Liberian President, George Weah.
