A nephew of former President Goodluck Jonathan, Oguanisi Akpusu, was among those celebrating the masquerade festival in Emeyal 1 community in Ogbia Local Government Area of Bayelsa State.

As the festival got more intense, there was a shooting and two people were confirmed dead.

The alleged shooter happens to be the nephew of the former president.

He has been arrested in Bayelsa State over the alleged death of two persons during a masquerade parade in Emeyal 1 community in Ogbia Local Government Area.

He has since been released as the police said the shooting was "accidental".

The Commissioner of Police, Bayelsa State, Asuquo Amba, said this while parading suspects before journalists in Yenagoa.

The CP made no comment about how Akpusu came to be in possession of a gun.

Amba said the victims of the accident sustained gunshot injuries in their legs and thighs.

He said the case has been moved to the Serious Crimes Unit of the state police command.
