The long wait to see Super Eagles captain John Obi Mikel back in action doing what he loves doing best should be over very soon.

Mikel via an Instagram post over the weekend revealed that he is making real progress in his bid to return to full fitness as he continues to recover from the ankle injury that forced him to undergo a surgery recently.

The 30-year old has been out of action for over a month now and still has a few weeks to go.

He posted a video of himself kicking a ball with the caption: “Injuries take patience, but progress is so rewarding ??????????”

Mikel’s injury has forced him out of action for his Chinese club Tianjin Teda and also accounted for him being left out of the Nigeria squad for their 2019 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against the Bafana Bafana of South Africa next week in Uyo.

The last time Mikel played for Nigeria was in the 3-1 2018 World Cup qualifier win against the Desert Foxes of Algeria in which he scored one of the goals.
