Jibrin Protests Continued Suspension By House Of Representatives
Abdulmumin Jibrin, former Chairman of the House of Representatives committee on Appropriation is protesting his continued suspension from the lower chamber.
Jibrin was suspended by the House for 180 legislative days on September 28, 2016 after he accused the Speaker, Yakubu Dogara; the Deputy Speaker, Yussuff Lasun; Whip, Alhassan Doguwa, and Minority Leader, Leo Ogor, alongside some committee chairmen of budget fraud.
He also accused his colleagues of systemic corruption which he said he had a divine mandate to expose with a view to engineering reforms.
He was also banned from holding any position of responsibility in the House for the rest of the 8th National Assembly. In addition, he would tender a written apology to the House on resumption from suspension.
Jibrin was supposed to have resumed since September when the House came back from its annual recess but the House leadership has failed to recall him
In a series of tweets by Jibrin on Wednesday, he notified the presidency and asked the Chief Justice of Nigeria, Walter Onnoghen for a quick dispensation of justice on the matter which is of urgent national importance.
