Jet Li Is Not Dying - Manager
We all wanted to be Jet Li, with all the amazing Martial art skills, and even the flying skills.
He was a strong character that kept us entertained for years.
However, photos from a recent appearance in Tibet have reportedly sparked concerns across social media. The 55-year-old martial arts legend looked frail.
Li’s manager, Steven Chasman, said during at interview that it was just a bad photo of someone who is 55 years old.
“He has hyperthyroidism that he’s been dealing with for almost 10 years. It’s nothing life-threatening and he’s dealing with it,” Chasman told said in interview.
Li revealed in 2013 that he was suffering from hyperthyroidism as well as a heart condition and his condition was not helped by the on-set injuries.
Doctors gave him 2 options, he could either continue making action films and eventually spend the rest of his life in a wheelchair.
He reluctantly withdrew from film making and dedicated his time to his charity, The One Foundation, which mainly focuses on disaster relief and Chinese children’s welfare in China.
Li was one of the most electrifying martial arts actors in the world.
The former national wushu champion broke into the film industry after portraying the legendary folk hero Wong Fei-hung in the “Once Upon a Time in China” series.
He would then branch out to Hollywood and European productions to feature in films like “Romeo Must Die,” “The Expendables” and “Kiss of the Dragon".
Even after going to Hollywood, Li still starred in Chinese films.
