Nigeria international, Alex Iwobi has lost out on the London Young Player of the Year Award.

Interestingly, the award was won by another player of Nigerian descent, Dele Alli who has continued to churn out outstanding performances for his club Tottenham and his adopted country, England.

To win this latest accolade, Alli saw off competition from Arsenal duo Hector Bellerin and Alex Iwobi at the London Football Awards.

The former MK Dons star has scored 12 goals in 25 games so far for Spurs which has helped them to the second spot on the Premier League log. He is already a prominent member of the Mauricio Pochettino’s side in only his second season at the club.

Bellerin and Iwobi have also been outstanding for Arsenal this season but Gunners fans may be a little worried about the form of Alli who could inspire their north London rivals to finish ahead of their team for the first time in the Premier League era.

Iwobi had won this category of award at the last CAF Awards held in Abuja earlier this year.
