It's Official! Banky W Is Running For Federal House Of Reps
There's no doubt that the 2019 elections will be a very significant one for Nigeria, and things just took an interesting twist as music artiste/actor, Bankole Wellington aka Banky W has just announced that he'll be running for the Federal House of Representatives.
Banky made the announcement during a press conference which held at Landmark 2 event centre, stating that he'll be vying for the Eti Osa seat at the Federal House of Reps under the Modern Democratic Party (MDP).
The 'Wedding Party' singer has been very vocal on issues pertaining to governance and socio-economic issues, and had penned several open ed pieces in the past, as well as campaigned rigorously for Governor Ambode in 2015. More recently, he's actively campaigned for Nigerians to get their voters card, especially the younger generation.

Speaking on his decision to run, Banky took to his Instagram page after the press conference writing:
''They said we don’t have the money to run.. we say we our strength lies in our numbers. They said we don’t have the structure, we say we will attempt to build it. They said “what if you lose”? I say, what if we win?
You see, my entire life has been a story of just dreaming dreams, praying about those dreams, setting goals, and working until they come true. I can live with trying and failing. I can not live with not trying.
So while we may not have a godfather, we do have God. And we have vision. And intellectual capacity. And integrity. And the right intentions. And last but not least, a whole lot of hope.
At the end of the day, hope may be all we have, but I believe that it is all we need. Thank you and God bless Nigeria.

Since his entry into the Nigerian entertainment space in 2008 with his hit single 'Ebute Metta', Banky has proven his versatility switching from artiste to label executive, cinematographer, actor and now politician.
