A former aide of ex-Presidents Goodluck Jonathan and Olusegun Obasanjo, Doyin Okupe, says Nigeria will not make progress if former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar succeeds in his presidential ambition.

Okupe said Abubkar’s presidency would draw Nigeria backwards, and will  take the country ten years to recover from such.

Posting on Twitter, Okupe said while he disagrees with Abubakar becoming Nigeria’s president, it would be a different case with Senate President Bukola Saraki.

Saraki had said he is considering running against President Muhammadu Buhari in the next election.

According to Okupe, “if Atiku rules Nigeria for 1 day, it will take us 10 years to  recover. If Saraki rules for a day, Nigeria will make history.”

However, following the heated response the tweet generated on Twitter, Okupe on Wednesday, August 22, claimed he did not originate the tweet but did not mention the originator of the tweet nor reveal where he got it from.

His tweet: “I did not originate d post saying if Atiku ruled, Nig will not recover in 10yrs, but if SP, it ‘ll bcom history.I changed bcos history to “will make History. Can never insult Atiku 4 any reason.”
