Next time you have an argument with an armed employee, it would be wise to stay a safe distance away or wait till there are more people around before you express your disappointment.

Bingel Mohammed had an argument with his boss, Alhaji Umaru Beyo Ardo.

The altercation, which got so heated, led to a quarrel and the eventual the death of Alhaji Ardo.

Explaining what led to the fight, Mohammed said he reared cattle for the deceased at Labakke village in Shongom local government area of Gombe state.

He said on the fateful day, 17th March 2016, one of the cows got missing and effort to find it were futile.

“I told Alhaji about the missing cow, but he was very angry and started fighting me.

“He kept shouting at me and calling me names which got me angry. So, I attacked him with a cutlass.

The suspect was said to have butchered Ardo with a cutlass hitting him first on the leg, hand and head.

The prosecuting counsel Y. G Ahmed Esq told the court that the offence is punishable under section 221 of the Penal code.

Justice Sa’ad Muhammad of Gombe State High Court sentenced Mohammed to death by hanging after he was charged with culpable homicide.

In the ruling Justice Sa'ad Muhammad said, “Having found that all the ingredients of the offence of culpable homicide punishable with death contrary to section 221 of the Penal code, have been proved beyond reasonable doubt by the prosecution and having found that the accused is not entitled to any defense, I hereby convict the accused for the offence punishable with death, I hereby impose the mandatory sentence of death on him.

“The accused shall be hanged by the neck till he is dead,” he pronounced.
