Founder and Chairman of Innoson Motors, Nigeria’s indigenous vehicle producer, Innocent Chukwuma, was arrested and currently under detention by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) on Tuesday.

He is speaking from detention after his arrest on Tuesday.

In a statement, Chukwuma claims he is being owed an undisclosed amount of money by Guaranty Trust Bank (GTB) which a court of law had ruled in his favour, and that the EFCC was being used to intimidate him.

“Instead of the bank to pay me my money, they are using EFCC to intimidate me.”

But the commission said Chukwuma is being investigated by EFCC's Capital Market & Insurance Fraud Unit.

“#ICYMI: EFCC today (Tuesday) arrested Innocent Chukwuma, popularly known by his company's name, INNOSON, following his refusal to honour invitation by the Commission having earlier jumped an administrative bail granted him. #Fraud

“Chukwuma is being investigated by EFCC's Capital Market & Insurance Fraud Unit,” the anti-graft agency wrote.
