Neymar will be missing in action when Paris St Germain's take on Montpellier this weekend in the Ligue 1.

It is understood that the Brazilian super star has a minor foot injury and it was considered not necessary to stress him even though PSG are keen to extend their 100 per cent start to the season on Saturday.

A world-record signing from Barcelona this summer, Neymar has hugged the headlines this week following a spat with Edinson Cavani over who would take a penalty in last week's 2-0 victory over Lyon.

And despite training on Thursday, Neymar was left out of the 18-man squad named on Friday evening for the clash at the Stade de la Mosson.

He is being rested in an effort to allow him to recover for next week's mouthwatering Champions League clash with Bayern Munich, according to L'Equipe.

PSG started the Champions League brightly; recording a 5-0 win way to Celtic in their Match Day 1 outing.
