The season has ended earlier than expected for Abia Warriors star striker Sunday Adetunji.

He has been ruled out for the rest of the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) season after a fracture to his left arm.

The former Shooting Stars forward sustained the injury during the NPFL Week 33 game against Lobi Stars on Sunday.

Adetunji, who returned to Abia Warriors’ camp from Kano where the Super Eagles are currently preparing for an Africa Nations Championship qualifier against Benin Republic next week, scored two of the goals that condemned Lobi to a 4-2 home loss.

He has scored 14 goals this term.

Adetunji brilliant performance turned sour as he landed awkwardly and fractured his left arm after rising too high to nod in his second goal.

He was immediately rushed to the emergency unit of the Benue State University Teaching Hospital, where he received treatment.

Unfortunately, the injury setback has also ruled out the forward from the Super Eagles crucial 2018 African Nations Championship qualifiers against Benin Republic.
