Obafemi Martins has begun the journey to full recovery after a long injury layoff.

The striker ruptured his muscle fibre while in action for Shanghai Shenhua against Kashima Antlers in the Asian Champions League in April.

He headed to London where he had a successful surgery and has since been recuperating.

Currently in Lagos, Martins has begun light training as he hopes to bounce back to full fitness.

“My rehabilitation is going very well. I work at the gym every day. I can’t wait to resume with my teammates,” Martins told CSN.

The 33-year-old has scored 19 goals in 40 Chinese Super League games since he made his debut in 2015 for Shanghai Shenhua.
