Voting in the Karatudu community, Kaduna state is literally an uphill task.

The community say they stand the risk of being disenfranchised.

Many residents of the area do not have voters cards, and those with voters cards registered in areas far from the community.

The community, located in Chikun Local Government Area of Kaduna state, have cried out to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to provide them with a polling unit.

This plea is being being made by members of the community who do not want to bedisenfranchised in the national elections coming up next year.

A handwritten compliant letter addressed to INEC was presented to the senator representing Kaduna Central senatorial district, Senator Shehu Sani, by the Chairman of Karatudu community Simeon Oloyede.

The chairman said that to vote, residents have to register at polling units located far away.

"We don't have a polling unit here, we are not recognized by them((NEC), but thank God we were able to get the attention of the Senator representing Kaduna Central which this place is part of who has promised to help us.

"That is why we have put this letters together for him and others to help us" the chairman said.
