INS Tarkash, an Indian Naval Warship, will arrive Lagos on May 31 .

The visit of the warship would coincide with the celebration of the Nigerian navy day, scheduled for June 1.

The head of Chancery of the High Commission of India in Lagos, Jagdeep Kapoor, said the visiting ship is a state of the art frigate commissioned into the Indian Navy on November 9, 2012.

Kapoor said the ship is packed with high-density weapons and sensors.

The ship, which is being manned by a crew of 300 personnel, is one of the most potent platforms of the Indian Navy.

The warship will engage extensively with the Nigerian Navy during its stay in harbor.

Apart from professional interactions, a number of sports and social engagements are also planned.

Kapoor said a joint exercise would be conducted between the Nigerian and Indian Navy ships at the end of the visit.
