While trying to vandalize power supply equipment belonging to Kaduna Electric, a middle aged man literally got the shock of his life.
He was electrocuted to death at the Samari Distribution sub station Unguwan Yelwa, Television, Kaduna.
A resident of the area who identified himself as Mr. Simon Dogo disclosed that the incident occurred when the victim attempted to remove cable in the Distribution sub-station.
“He succeeded in removing one of the armored cables; perhaps it was to remove the second and the third one that he met his untimely death’’, Mr. Simon stated.
At the scene of the electrocution, the lifeless body of the suspected vandal was seen lying on the ground with injuries on his head and face.
This incident happened a day after the neighboring Shamaki Distribution sub-station in the same community was also vandalized.
The Head, Corporate Communication of Kaduna Electric, Abdulazeez Abdullahi lamented the increase in vandalism of power supply equipment. He called on communities in the southern parts of Kaduna metropolis to be more vigilant.
According to him, about ten distribution sub-stations were vandalized in the last one month in Barnawa Area office of the Company alone.
“We appeal to our customers, most especially Communities in the southern flank of the metropolis and vigilante groups to be more vigilant as there appears to be a syndicate operating around Barnawa, Narayi, Sabon Tasha, Television, as well as Kachia-Kafanchan axis,” he explained.
