There are reports that the office of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in Isiala Mbano, Imo State, has been burnt.

Smoke was earlier seen coming out of the building in the early hours of Monday before it went up in flames.

The cause of fire is yet unknown and it is not confirmed yet if the materials used in the voting exercise of Saturday were in the building. 

INEC said it is yet to visit the office to ascertain the level of destruction done by the fire.

It also claimed  that the Electoral Officer for Orlu Local Government, Aloy Njoku and the senatorial district Returning Officer have not been seen.

According to the INEC, they are held hostage and are being forced to declare false results.
