Imafidon Remanded For Allegedly Slapping Wife To Death
Premie Imafidon is standing trial for allegedly slapping his wife to death.
His case was first heard on Tuesday at an Ebute Meta Chief Magistrates’ Court, Lagos, but he will have to spend a month and few days in prison till the next date for hearing on his case.
Mr Imafidon, 47, was remanded by the Chief Magistrate, Mrs A.O. Ajibade, and he will spend his waiting days in Ikoyi Prisons.
The Chief magistrate also ordered that the case file should be sent to the State Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) for advice.
When Imafidon's case was called, the the Prosecutor, Maria Dauda, a police officer, told the court that the accused committed the offence on June 15, at 7.00 p.m., at No. 25, Apata Street, Agege, Lagos.
The News Agency of Nigeria quoted the prosecutor as saying that the accused had slapped his wife Hope, 42, which resulted to her death.
After hearing the prosecutor's submissions, Ajibade adjourned the case until September 3.
The accused is facing a charge for murder and the offence contravened Section 224 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.
Section 224 stipulates death sentence for murder.
