Nicknamed 'The Prince of Monaco', former Nigeria international Victor Ikpeba is in celebration mood.

He is delighted that his former French club AS Monaco have won the Ligue 1 title for the 2016-17 season.

Monaco beat St Etienne 2-0 on Wednesday to finally halt the dominance of PSG in the French League and claim their own first league title in 17 years.

Kylian Mbappé grabbed his 15th league goal of the season to help the principality club clinch the championship with a game to spare.

Valère Germain put the seal on the win with the last kick of the game.

Ikpeba, who is indeed a Monaco legend, was on hand to celebrate the title-winning feat on twitter where he congratulated the players for a job well done.

He wrote: Congratulation Monaco....... worthy Champions of the French League

“Marvelous season for Monaco..... The boys have done well for themselves. I'm so happy for the team” he added.

Former African Footballer of the year, Ikpeba was bought by Monaco in 1992 then coached by Arsène Wenger and he was a huge success at the club scoring 13 league goals to help them win the Ligue 1 title, in the 1996–97 season
