His tenure may have expired, but as far as Inspector General of Police, IGP Ibrahim Idris is concerned, the ‘beat’ goes on.

On Monday, Idris was reported to have reported and resumed work in his office at police headquarters in Abuja.

The IGP was expected to retire on January 3 when he reached the mandatory 35 years in service, but he was said to have arrived at his office at 11:40 am.

According to reports, he arrived in a convoy of at least six vehicles with his private car marked NPF 01 and was greeted by the parade guards within the force headquarters before proceeding to his office.

Speculations have been rife that his tenure might be extended till the 2019 elections are over, but any tenure extension has not been made official.

He had met with President Muhammadu Buhari on Friday, but details of the meeting were not made public.
