Here's a quick recap of what was hot on social media today, August 27:

Kunle Afolayan is turning into a ‘career launcher’.

After launching the acting career of the talented Chidinma Ekile, he is set to do the same for another beloved Afropop star, Simi.

According to a post the "I Dun Care" singer shared on her Instagram page over the weekend, she is set to make her Nollywood debut in 'Mokalik' — an upcoming movie from the AMVCA-winning director.

Inspired by a scene from his late father, Ade Love’s iconic film, 'Taxi Driver', 'Mokalik' will follow a day in the life of Jaiye, an 11-year-old boy who is sent by his middle-class parents to work at a mechanic workshop to give him a different perspective on life.

Simi will be playing a character also named Simi — the daughter of one of the two buka(food canteen) owners in the film — whom Jaiye inadvertently develops a crush on.

If Simi’s Nollywood debut will be anything like her acting in her mostly narrative-driven music videos, then fans would not have anything to worry about, because she is a natural.

Timaya is okay with his baby mamas and his children, and has no plans of getting married, so what kind of relationship advise can he give to fellow musician, Phyno?

The same thing.

The musician was spotted in a video advising Phyno against marriage.

In the viral video Phyno shared on his Insta-story, Timaya was spotted saying ‘marriage doesn’t work, just have babies.'

This is coming after Timaya took to his Instagram page to announce that he has ‘hung his boots’ when it comes to having children.

He made this known on his Instagram page where he posted an adorable picture of his daughters; Emma and Grace with their little brother whom Timaya recently welcomed with his second baby mama.

He posted;  “Emma is now a big sis. Super blessed Dude I am, Hey I’m done making babies, Get to work PAPA!.”

#Jim Iyke

Nigerian actor Jim Iyke appears to have forgotten that he is not on set of a Nollywood movie.

He was allegedly arrested at the domestic wing of the Muritala Mohammed Airport in Lagos state on Monday after he allegedly assaulted the staff of Dana airlines domiciled at the airport.

The actor assaulted one of the security personnel who attempted to search him after he arrived for a flight.

Unknown to the security man, Jim had missed his flight because he arrived late.

The actor in a phone call to newsmen denies that he was arrested, and said that he was just escorted by the policemen to see if he could get another flight.

It has been several months since United States President Donald Trump hosted Nigeria President Muhammadu Buhari but it seems there was more to the visit.

Now Trump has been reported to have called Buhari, lifeless, after their April meeting, so claims global business newspaper, Financial Times in a recent publication.

Buhari and Trump met at the White House on April 30. Both leaders discussed issues bordering on fighting terrorism and economic growth.

However, as Trump is set to welcome President Uhuru Kenyatta of Kenya, Financial Times in an article titled 'Africa looks for something new out of Trump', claimed that the US leader described his April meeting with Buhari as ‘so lifeless’.

9ice might have just lied or just had a change of heart.

A few years ago, the singer told comedian and TV host, Teju Babyface, that he will never get married again after his marriage to Toni Payne crashed.

Well in May 2018, he got engaged to a U.S-based Engineer and businesswoman named Adetola, and then on Saturday, August 25, 2018, he reportedly secretly got married to her via Skype because she could not make it down to Nigeria.

Sources close to 9ice further alleged that she is pregnant for the singer, making her the fourth woman to bear a child for the ‘Gongo Aso’ crooner.

The happy ‘over the seas’ event was kept a secret after phones were banned from the venue, but good news cannot be hidden for too long, especially when one is in the eye of the public.

Congratulations 9ice, we wish you all the best in your new marital sojourn.
