Blessing Okagbare now has a new season's best time in the 100m Women's event following her third place finish at the IAAF Diamond League in Paris on Saturday.

The Nigerian star ran a time of 11.09 secs to improve on her former best time of 11.16 secs for the season.

Saturday's outing is the first time in the season's IAAF Diamond League that Okagbare will be making a podium finish as she has virtually struggled all through the season.

Olympic double-sprint champion Elaine Thompson, who was competing in Paris for the first time won the Women's 100m race in 10.91, getting the better of Diamond League leader Marie-Josee Talou of CÙte d'Ivoire, 10.96, and Nigeria's Blessing Okagbare settling for third spot.

Coming off a fast 10.71 at the National Senior Championships, Thompson was happy with the win.

"I am happy with the win and also pleased with my time as this is my first time competing in Paris, and after a long flight, I think I did well," said Thompson her race.

In some of the other events in the Paris leg of the IAAF Diamond League, Williams Mills from Jamaica won the women's 400m in 51.03secs while Ivory Coast’s Ben Youssef Meite won the men's 100m event in a season’s best of time of 9.99secs
