Even before Nigerians began to pray for him, he has prayed for himself.

Actor and broadcaster Sadiq Daba has been battling with leukemia and prostate cancer for some months.

The star of Kunle Afolayan's 'October 1' has not given up, even when some people thought that the request seeking financial assistance for his medical treatment was a ploy to defraud others.

"I hold no grudges against anyone”, he said.

"But I am angry because it is very easy to verify the story that went viral online, claiming that my sickness was a ploy by some people to defraud others.

"I have a couple of my friends, Sunny Irabo, Azuka Jebose, human rights activist, Dr. Joe Okei-Odumakin and Kenny Martins. God is my strength.”

The Kano-state born actor went on to thank Nigerians and promised them that after traveling to the UK for treatment that he would bounce back to health.

“Within a few days, Nigerians have surprised me. I have nothing to say but to thank Nigerians for their love and support for me.

"The negativism of the newspaper publication does not scuttle the process. I know who I am, and I know who my friends are. I appeal to Nigerians to forget all those negative distractions.

"I know that my covenant with God is that I will not die,” the ailing TV star said.

Mr. Daba may travel later this week to the UK where treatment would be commence. We wish him safe surgery and quick recovery.
