The banter between the Nigerian senate and the Customs Comptroller General, Hameed Alli over vehicle duty payment is getting more interesting.

You may recall that the Senate asked Alli to appear before it on Wednesday, March 15 in uniform.

This was after Alli said Customs was not going to obey the Senate's directive to suspend its planned policy.

In response to the Senate’s directive that he must appear before it in uniform, the Customs boss said he was not employed to wear uniform.

He told a television station, TV Continental on Friday that rather, he was appointed to work effectively.

“No! I was not appointed Comptroller General of Customs to wear uniform. Does Uniform work or the person behind the uniform?

“If we suspect that smuggled items are taken into your house, we have the right to cordon that house and go in to search.

“Am I doing my job or not? I think that should be what should worry the National Assembly” Alli said.
