How We Defraud ‘Greedy’ Victims With Fake Currencies - Suspect
The members of a syndicate that specializes in deceiving innocent commuters with fake foreign currencies have been paraded by the Kwara State Police Command.
The Commissioner of Police in the state CO Fafowora Bolaji who briefed newsmen in Ilorin said acting on intelligence, the suspects were arrested after successfully defrauding one Mrs. Adekeye Feyisayo of the sum of one million and fifty-five thousand naira (#1,055,000.00) one Bilikis Abdulkareem, and five other victims of monies totaling three million, five hundred thousand naira (# 3, 500, 000).
Their operational vehicle, a Mazda 323 with Reg. No FUF 646 X in Kwara Taxi colour was also recovered.
He added that the suspect would be charged to court.
While speaking with news men one of the suspect Adebayo Akeem, who claimed that he was a revenue collector with Oyo state government said: "those people that have oju kokoro na him we dey collect money from them, we don't collect money from them by force, those who said that they are not interested we let go,"
He added that they started the operation this year within Ilorin metropolis, only those that want to share in another man's money get wound up in the scam.
The other suspect were Sedan Ogunga, Owoyemi Gbenga, Senile Oluwafemi and Ayoola Isaac.
The command also paraded other suspects who were involved in criminal conspiracy, causing grievous hurt and armed robbery, illegal possession and repair of illegal firearms.
Members of a gang that allegedly specialises in vandalising electricity transformer armored cables were also arrested and paraded.
The police boss also said 19 suspected armed robbers and thieves were arrested while eleven suspected cultists were also arrested within the previous weeks.
