How Unregistered Gun Landed Security Man In Police Net
Olayode Fashina (36) is a security man with a petroleum company in Okota area of Lagos.
He is also a member of the Oodua Peoples Congress (OPC), so you can understand why he has that kind of job.
But rather than being in the comfort of his home, he is currently languishing in a cell at the Force Headquarters of the Lagos State Police Command in Ikeja.
The reason for his arrest and detention, according to him, is that he was caught in possession of an unregistered gun.
Why have you not made efforts to register your gun? Bounce News correspondent asked him during a parade of crime suspects.
“It was the person that got the job for me that gave me the gun as a security man. He said he would later acquire the license,” he said.
That was how his problem started and it has gotten worse as the police have now accused him of complicity in some robberies.
He went on to admit that he seized the gun from thieves when they attempted to rob the facility he guards.
But rather than hand the gun over to the police, he handed it over to his boss who gave it back to him to use.
Married with three children, if indeed he is innocent, he would have a tough time proving it, considering the evidences against him.
His case would be a lesson to others to always ensure they are engaged for any kind of job through registered agents.
Particularly in the security sector, never take up the job of a guard if not through a registered security company.
