We know they are at high risk these days, but obviously, taxi drivers are not always the victims, sometimes they are the masterminds of evil.

If you have a car and you have hired a driver to help you run a taxi business, it might do you some good to read this story.

A 27-year-old man, James Ejemba, was on Wednesday brought before an Ikeja Magistrates’ Court for allegedly absconding with his employer’s saloon car valued at N2million.

The Uber driver, whose address was not provided, is facing a two-count charge of conspiracy and stealing.

He had his plan well worked out. All he had to do was tell his employer some stories that touch and the woman would pity him.

But Mrs Ngozi Ireoha suspected something was not right.

He claimed that the car was stolen by four men who robbed him at gun point along Oshodi Expressway, but he failed to report the case to the police until he was arrested.

The Police Prosecutor, Insp. Benson Emuerhi, told the court that the accused committed the offences with some other persons still at large on Feb. 14 at Ile-Zik Bus Stop, Ikeja, Lagos.

The accused, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge but if found guilty, a three-year imprisonment awaits him for stealing.

In her ruling, the Chief Magistrate, Mrs O. Sule Amzat, granted the accused bail in the sum of N200, 000 with two responsible sureties in like sum and adjourned the case until July 2.
