The victory of PDP candidate, Ayo Akinyelure in the Ondo Central Senatorial district almost claim two lives on Monday, all in the spirit of celebration.

The yet to be identified victims were allegedly involved in a ghastly accident while returning from a drinking spree specially organised by political loyalists of the senator-elect.

According to an eyewitness, the two victims - who were in a saloon car - had exceed speed limits when the incident happened.

"The driver was obviously drunk if not, there was no how he would be driving at such a high speed inside an estate knowing he was approaching an estate gate.

"He got to the gate and crashed into another vehicle at the gate."

Another source disclosed that they were coming from a joint where they gathered with other people to celebrate the victory of their candidate, Ayo Akinyelure, who also lives in the estate.

"They have been in the hotel for a whole day celebrating. By the time some of them were leaving, they were already different people."

The driver was said to have hit the back of a Sports Utility Vehicle which made two of its tyre burst.

The driver of the Ford, Mr. Yusuf Mustapha who sustained lips injury said he could not explain how it happened.

"I was trying to drive out of the estate when I suddenly heard a loud bang and my car jumped forward in an uncontrollable way. I had to struggle to control the situation and thank God I was moving at a slow speed, it would have been a different thing by now."

It was however gathered that the Senator-elect did not come to the venue where the celebration took place.

The victims were said to have been taken to an undisclosed private health facility within the metropolis.

Ondo State Police PRO, Femi Joseph said he is yet to be briefed on the incident.

But a police officer at the Ijapo police division said the crashed saloon car has been taken to their station within the estate.
