Perhaps you didn’t know that Reggae legend, Ras Kimono and entrepreneur, Chairman of Heirs Holdings Tony Elumelu are cousins.

In fact, the two share the surname, Elumelu.

Tony Elumelu took to Twitter to mourn the death of the reggae singer on Sunday.

“I just heard the worst news that the Nigerian Reggae legend, and my cousin, #RasKimono has died. Ras had a huge impact on my appreciation of music & is one of the reasons I’m such a huge fan of the genre. I still remember his performance at our #HHchrismas party two years ago,” he tweeted on his handle, @TonyOElemelu.

Delta State born Ras Kimono, whose real name is Ekeleke Elumelu, shook up the music scene in 1989 with the release of his debut album Under Pressure, led by the single Rum-bar Stylee.

Ki Mono as he is popularly called died in Lagos aged 60 years.
