How Police Averted Zamfara Market Attack And Rescued 9
Despite the deployment of 1,000 strong force of the Nigerian Army, Air Force and other security agencies to Zamfara State to contain the activities of bandits, these dissident group is not bothered about military presence.
On Tuesday a couple of them attempted to attack a cattle market in Talata-Mafara town in Zamfara, but their plot was aborted by some officials of the Nigeria Police Force.
After the attempt to attack the market failed, the Zamfara Sate Police Command said police officials also rescued 9 abducted victims.
A statement by the spokesman for the police in the state, Muhammad Shehu, said “today, 31st July, 2018 about 4:00 p.m., a gang of armed bandits stormed cattle market in Talata Mafara town with the intention to cause havoc and rustle cows.

“The bandits had also abducted nine persons in the market.

and rescued the abducted victims," he said.
According to him, the police team also arrested 12 suspects and recovered offensive weapons and assorted charms from them.
“All the suspects are in the police custody undergoing interrogation and will be charged as soon as investigation is completed," he added.
Shehu urged members of the public in the state to always cooperate with police and other security agents and provide information on security to them.
This is coming days after President Muhammadu Buhari issued a directive that 1,000 strong force, comprising the Nigerian Army, the Air Force, NSCDC and some other agencies, should be deployed to Zamfara to quell the activities of armed bandits.
