It was not business as usual at the National Assembly, as staff of the legislative arm shut down the complex over unpaid salaries, allowances and promotion arrears.

But there was quite some drama behind the news we have read all morning of Tuesday, December 4.

Bounce News gathered that the protesting workers reserved an unpleasant treatment for the Deputy Senate President, Ike Ekweremadu.

The angry staff held him hostage for few minutes on arrival at the premises and drove out other lawmakers, preventing them from entering the National Assembly chambers for plenary.

While being held hostage, Senator Ekweremadu had to endure the shame of being booed in the lobby, with many of the workers chanting 'Go home', 'Ole'.

An embarrassed DSP left and followed through the lobby of the Senate Press Corps alongside his aides.

The workers continued their protest with placards of various inscriptions like: 'We need alert', 'Pass our Condition of Service, Senate President, Speaker', 'CONLESS is not tied to 2018 budget',  'Stop Omolori now before he stops Nigerian democracy', '19 years bondage on salary arrears' among others.
