How Keke Rider Steals Cell Phones, Electronics From House Wives
Everyday is for the thief, but one day is for the owner.
That was the case of Isah Ma’azu, an auto rickshaw (keke) rider, who was apprehended for using his Keke NOT for movement of passengers from one location to another, but for robbery.
Ma'azu dedicated his Keke to snatching cell phones and other valuable items from house wives in Maiduguri, the capital of Borno State.
The 24-year-old tricylist had succeeded in snatching 15 cell phones from different women before he was arrested by officials of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC).
The Commandant of the Corps, Ibrahim Abdullahi, narrated how Ma’azu carried out his criminal act.
“He disguises as an errand boy and goes to the victims’ matrimonial homes under the pretext of delivering shopping or food items from their husbands.
“The suspect delivered exotic shopping menu like chicken, beef, fishery products, vegetables and other commodities to the victims, claiming that it was sent by their husbands.
“After delivering the items, the suspects would ask the woman to give him their phone so that he would call the husband.
“Eventually, the suspect would run away with the phone,” he said.
The commandant also told the News Agency of Nigeria that the suspect had applied the same tricks to defraud housewives of valuables items such as electronics and household appliances.
He was unlucky in one of his intrigues when he went to a house while the head of the household was around.
After he told the wife the usual story, the husband heard and alerted vigilance group members in the area who apprehended him.
The NSCDC recovered cell phones, electric generator, a television set and a satellite receiver from the suspect.
He has been handed over to relevant authorities to be tried.
While Isah Ma’azu is using his Keke for criminal activities, a woman in Lagos State is making cool cash with hers, and she is happier for it.
