Abdullahi Kyari of Gombe metropolis who was recently kidnapped near Jos, Plateau state shared his horrifying encounter with men of the underworld.

Kyari told Bounce News that he was lured into the trap of kidnappers by a friend Maikudi Jabe who came to him with a business idea.

“I’m a cement dealer, I have a shop where I sell cement in Tumfure Akko LGA, Gombe state.

“Maikudi Wuro Jabe called me on phone last Sunday and said he has business for me.

"He said his boss in Abuja got a contract to build 1,000 housing units for the federal government in Plateau state and he wants me to supply them cement for the project.

“I asked how many bags they will need he said 50 trailer load, after negotiating the price of each bag, his boss said we should come to Jos and meet with the engineer handling the project. The next day we left Gombe for Jos.

“As we were approaching Jos town, the engineer called and said we should stop at the junction leading to Jos east that he has sent a soldier (his security detail) to come and take us to the site where he will be waiting for us.

"We stopped, took bikes with the soldier and travelled for about 45 minutes. The soldier said they have left for Jos so we should go back and join them in Jos after receiving a call.

“On our way back, a group of boys with guns stopped us, pointed guns at us and ask us all to lie down but Maikudi Wuro Jabe who brought the business ran to a nearby bush and escaped.

“They collected our phones and some money that I had on me. We were asked to pay N16m for our freedom but were able to negotiate it to N1.5 million.

Narrating how he regained their freedom, Kyari said, “They contacted my family and as they were planning to bring the money, some of the boys left and left us with two guards out of whom one had a gun, so I grabbed the one that had gun, my friend took on the other one so we fought and rolled down from the hill and I was able to snatched the gun from him.

“I fired three shots and they ran. We ran too. When we got to the main road, we met a driver that helped us call police who came and took us to a hospital.”

“Maikudi Wuro Jabe that brought me the business was later arrested and handed over to the police after he was suspected to have planned the kidnap.”
