Five Katsina children have met their untimely end struggling to receive alms after their Ramadan fast.

Residents of Rafin Dadi area of Katsina State have been thrown into mourning following Monday’s unfortunate incident.

Fifteen other kids said to have been injured during the stampede are being treated in a private hospital.

Eyewitnesses said the incident happened shortly before the breaking of fast when some donors started giving each child 500 Naira as alms, Punch reports.

Spokesman for the Katsina Police Command, DSP Gambo Isah, confirmed the incident, adding that one Kamal for making the children act in such careless manner.

The scene of the incident was calm on Tuesday evening although residents were still lamenting the incident described as unnecessary show of affluence.
