If you have seen the Hollywood classic movie - Troy, where two countries went to war because of a woman then you will understand what is happening in Mushin area, Lagos state.

There is tension in Idi Araba and Olorunishola communities in the Mushin Local Government Area after bloody clashes between two factional gangs in the neighbourhood.

At least 150 vehicles were vandalised during the clash, while some members of the factions were injured.

The rift was the climax of a supremacy battle between Idi Araba gangs and Olorunnishola boys which started about four years ago.

The rival gangs have maintained peace for some months before the battle was rekindled penultimate Saturday during a party organised by a lady on Olanrewaju Street, off Itire Road.

The unnamed lady was reportedly in a relationship with two men belonging to each faction.

It was said that members of both gangs had attended the party that day and as it progressed, a fight broke out.

The Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Olarinde Famous-Cole, said the police has begun routine patrol of the area to forestall a recurrence.
