The Joint Health Sector Union (JOHESU) have suspended its industrial action in principle.

The suspension follows a conciliation meeting between its leadership and representatives of the Federal Government in Abuja on Saturday.

Biobelemoye Josiah, Chairman of the union, has directed members to resume work on Wednesday, saying the strike was suspended “in principle”.

Josiah said another meeting has been scheduled for Tuesday, explaining that the agreements reached on Saturday would be ratified next week.

Stephen Ocheni, Minister of State for Labour, led the federal government team at Saturday’s meeting which lasted nine hours.

The union embarked on a nationwide strike on September 20, to protest among other issues, salaries adjustments, promotion arrears, and improved work environment for its members.
