There was a time the #BringBackOurGirls movement was trending all over the world.

It was the hottest thing on the internet with people like Michelle Obama and Justin Timberlake using the hashtags.

HBO has now released a documentary on events centred around that movement, and what happened to the girls who were released titled ‘Stolen Daughters: Kidnapped by Boko Haram’.

In the documentary, the filmmakers were given exclusive access to the secret government safe house where the girls stayed after their release.

Out of fear of being targeted again by the terrorists, the girls are instructed not to reveal what happened while they were under captivity.

The producer for the documentary, Sasha Achilli explained that some girls have issues narrating their experience because of the emotional trauma and some attributed it in person.

She also said they were very cautious while interviewing the girls because most of them were stigmatized in the society as being spies for Book Haram.
