Hate speech is on the increase and the National Orientation Agency (NOA) is afraid it is capable of dragging the country into anarchy.

The agency is appealing to Nigerians to eschew all forms of violence and live in peace.

There have been agitations for secession in Nigeria's South-East.

Different comments and hate speeches have trailed recent clashes between the military and members of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) that left some persons dead and property destroyed.

Nerves frayed after the military deployed soldiers in the region as the Python Danced.

Members of IPOB believe the deployment was made to apprehend their leader Nnamdi Kanu and also silence the group.

But the military says it is nit against any individual or group that adheres to the rule of law.

Hate speeches and more hate speeches are posted by the minutes on social media and the situation now demands a call for common sense.

The the Kaduna State Director of the Agency, Zubairu Galadima, on Wednesday made an appeal for peaceful coexistence in the state and Nigeria at large.

“The phenomenon, if not checked is capable of degenerating into full crisis and insecurity, loss of lives and property.

“People should ignore rumours and go about their businesses without fear, and all residents of the state should help discourage rumor mongering and promote peace,” he said.

Galadima wants Nigerians to desist from utterances that would divide the country along ethnic, religious and partisan lines.
