Residents of Isolo in Lagos State are angry with the lawmaker representing them at the House of Representatives, Tony Nwulu.

There are allegations that Nwulu has completely abandoned his legislative duties in pursuit of his governorship ambition.

Nwulu, 39, is contesting the 2019 governorship election in Imo State.

Nwulu, who was elected under the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to represent Oshodi/Isolo Federal Constituency 2 in the lower chamber in 2015 has dumped the umbrella and joined United Progressive Party (UPP).

There are claims that he is desperate to fulfill his ambition of succeeding Governor Rochas Okorocha.

Some residents say that since he declared his intention in December 2017, Nwulu has relocated to Imo State and has abandoned his constituency.

It was gathered that rather than help his constituency, the lawmaker has been busy donating items to people in his home State.

Before he defected to the UPP last Saturday, Nwulu had penultimate week donated two new buses to the women and youth wings of the PDP in Imo.

In addition to the bus gifts, he donated a sum of N1 million each to both groups.

He has also allegedly donated gift items and cash to various communities and groups in the state.

Some of the residents in Isolo who spoke to Bounce News on Tuesday, said Nwulu has refused to empower the people of the constituency like he did during his first two years.

Recall that in 2015, Nwulu visited all the wards in the Isolo General Hospital and paid the hospital bills of over 200 patients.

Additionally, he gave money to six other patients who couldn’t afford their prescribed drugs as some of the drugs were said to cost N68,000 for a single dose.

Moved by the plight of most of the patients, he also gave out N10,000 and N30,000 respectively to all the patients in the hospital.

One of the residents in the area, Akeem Owolabi, who happens to be a member of the PDP, said the people were disenchanted with the lawmaker for abandoning them for almost a year.

"He has completely abandoned the people that sent him to Abuja. For close to a year, he has been missing."

Another resident said: "We are, indeed, unfortunate in Oshodi/Isolo Federal Constituency 2; Nwulu has absconded from this area.

"His constituency office is non-functional. We can’t access our representative; he has not been home for a long time now.”

When Bounce News visited his constituency office in Isolo, the place looked deserted as only an aide to Nwulu was on seat.

It was gathered that the place before Nwulu declared his intention to vie for the Imo governorship was always a beehive of activities

However, the aide, who gave his name as Uche described allegations as false. He explained that the federal legislator had done well for the people of the constituency.

All efforts to speak with Nwulu proved abortive as he refused to respond to calls on his mobile phone.
