The people of Abia South Senatorial District have commenced the process to recall Senator Enyinnaya Abaribe, representing the area at the National Assembly.

This follows a resolution reached by some people from various political parties in the six local government areas in Abia South, under the aegis of Coalition of Abia South Senatorial Movement.

Addressing newsmen in Aba, the group's leader, Paul Ikonne said the decision to recall Abaribe is based on the failure of the Senator to impact meaningfully on the welfare of the people.

Prince Ikonne said the senator was elected to push for good governance, make laws and regret that the reverse is now the case.

He explained that the complainants would follow due process in the recall, noting that the collation of signatures from wards and electoral units would be completed in two weeks.

Also speaking, the state chairman of Advanced Peoples Democratic Party APDA, Nwobodo Nwanganga, observed that the efforts to call the Senator to order have yielded no result.

A member of the PDP from Obingwa local government, Chima Uzo said the move to recall Senator Abaribe is long overdue as he had derailed from the mandate given to him.
