It was not a total loss for Nigeria at the 2019 Grammy’s.

Although Afrobeat artiste, Seun Kuti like his elder brother, Femi Kuti did not win the Grammys in the ‘Best World Music’ category, a Nigerian still went home with an award.

On Sunday night, February 10, 2019, the 36-year-old’s ''Black Times'', lost to South Africa's Soweto Gospel Choir who were winning their third Grammy Award.

Also on the night, Lagos born creative director, Ibra Ake, won a Grammy Award for Best Music Video for his contribution on Childish Gambino’s ‘This Is America’.

Childish Gambino also won song and record of the year on Sunday, becoming the first rap song to win the prestigious awards.

It was definitely a win-lose situation.
