President Muhammadu Buhari has released a video message for Nigerians ahead of the Governorship election of Saturday, March 9.

It is the second and final phase of the 2019 general elections, he says, but the President also asked Nigerians to do a few things to make things better.

In the video message posted on the Facebook page of his spokesman, Femi Adesina, he began with a sober reflection.

"Let me once again extend my condolences to the families of those who lost their lives or sustained injuries as a result of accidents or criminal violence during the elections.

"The onus is once again on qualified people to turn out in large numbers to exercise their civic rights.

"Let us not become complacent and fail to vote in the gubernatorial poll.

"The forthcoming elections are as important for good governance as that of the presidency and National Assembly.

"Indeed governors at the state levels are closer to us and should touch our lives directly," he said.

He recommended those standing on the  platform of the All Progressives Congress to Nigerians, saying they are guided by progressives ideals.

"They will not disappoint you," he says.

President Buhari also asked Nigerians to avoid undermining the process with ballot box snatching and other vices.

He urged Nigerians to make the governorship election better than the presidential election, saying the election that secured his second term in office had been adjudged free and fair by international observers.
